The art of Burano is a congruence of sculpture, painting, delicate lace and effervescent hues against a canvas of colourful homes on the maze of narrow streets that have existed for centuries. Burano on Bay is a journey from art to architecture and ultimately, a triumph of design. Its roots are firmly planted in the soil of Bay Street, but its heart beats to the glory of authentic Italian artistry.
Burano will consist of a 48 story tower rising above a 3 storey podium containing mixed use retail as well as the historically preserved Addison on Bay. The entrance plaza on Grenville is where Burano’s personality emerges to the interplay of light and art off a three story glass lobby and pedestrian space that will be the pride of the neighbourhood.
Located at the corner of Bay and College against the backdrop of Toronto’s fast-paced financial district, Burano will offer a tribute to the more cerebral pursuits – the art and culture of the old world ensconced in modern architecture with deep respect to a clear past.
The unique design of Burano results from the collaberation among Peter Clewes of architectsAlliance, Janet Rosenberg from Janet Rosenberg and Associates Landscape Architects and interior designer Alessandro Munge. architectsAlliance is responsible for many of Toronto's most sought after loft developments including Spire, Pier 27 and the Four Seasons Private Residences.
